“Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” BCP p. 860.

As such, we encourage families to wait until a child has reached his or her 15th birthday before presenting them for the sacramental rite of Confirmation. Following a period of instruction the person will be presented to the Bishop either on the occasion of the Bishop’s visitation to the parish or at another suitable site chosen by the Bishop.

Younger confirmands will be asked to select a “mentor” from among the congregation who will work through a variety of activities culminating with a three session dialogue with the interim priest concerning the Church’s teachings, the expectations placed upon the confirmands as they make this “mature commitment” and their roles and obligations as mature members of the faith.

Those young people interested in this program are encouraged to speak with the interim.
